Connection

has been the primary theme for this semester’s Digital Social Research class. Whether looking at a network analysis of users on Twitter, to reviewing political discussions on Reddit, social media has become a tool for maintaining contact with friends, family, and acquaintances. The following website (Research and Design by Michelle Wronski) dives deeper into some of the platforms reviewed during the semester, specifically Instagram and Reddit to look at the benefits of Digital Research in a political context.

Task #1

2 Leaders.

1 Platform.

 Task 3A

Evaluate and Compare 2 Instagram Accounts

Instagram is a social media platform where users can share photos, videos, and interactive content to engage with followers on Instagram to present their public image and tell a story. These visuals can include content about personal life, a campaign, or a message the user is trying to get across. So how do political leaders approach using Instagram? I put Erin O'Toole and Jugmeet Singh to the test to see who used Instagram better.

Task #2

Reddit and the 2019 Federal Election

Task 1B

Group Project Summary

During the semester, 3 students and I worked towards a project to investigate the discourse of the 2019 Canadian Federal Election on Reddit. Our team wanted to specifically understand if Reddit users talked about the Debate Themes from the English Federal Leader Debate that took place on October 7, 2019. The following exercise summarized our team objectives and explains the steps taken to analyze our team's data.
